Jakira Kenley scholarship recipient
Special Announcement

Congratulations to Jakira Kenley, the 2023 Lighthouse Christian Center scholarship recipient. Jakira recently graduated from Fort Dorchester High School and will be attending the University of South Carolina in the fall.

Jakira Kenley was born and raised in Charleston, SC. She is an 18-year-old who just graduated from Fort Dorchester High School and Trident Technical College with an associate degree in science. Throughout high school, she strived to not only keep good grades, but to stay active in many aspects of life. She danced with Fort Dorchester’s Color Guard within the marching band, ran track and field, was a participant in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and participated in the National Academy of Future Physicians.

During her senior year she spent most of her free time playing the viola in the Charleston Symphony Youth Orchestra, volunteered for the National Honors Society, and trained mostly in CPR/First Aid with her school’s future health professionals club. She plans on continuing to participate in similar clubs during college.

In the fall, Jakira will attend USC-Columbia to major in Public Health on the pre-med track and hopefully become an OBGYN. This scholarship will assist and allow her to be able to learn and achieve so much that’ll take her very far in life.
